It’s taking place for the forth time in Vienna parallel to viennacontemporary. PARALELL VIENNA chooses galleries, artists and curators and additionally invites project spaces which fit into the overall concept. into the structure – work series

into the structure – work series

We all take influence on the structure, seen as a collection of human actions. The beautiful things of life are essential for our well-being and an important part of this nexus. Nevertheless, a certain impuissance in respect of repetitive and complex patterns of our time is noticeable. Is a self-reflection of the own structures desired or are they in a sort also places of laziness, an imposed comfort zone, which let us almost accept the own entanglement without resistance?
The INTO THE STRUCTURE series is a collection of questions without precise answers, a restless occupation with personal impressions and information we are confronted with.

This, 3rd issue of pseudoscienza – art magazine is about surprises. It investigates the surprise factor in the era of oversaturated media feeds and general consumerism – from terrorist attacks, political populism, conspiracy and emotional pornography to our intimate and personal surprise factor, which artists would like to cherish un-condemned from the daily hysteria and share it with the public in the most authentic way.

die Schaukel

die Schaukel

2016, Stahl, Holz, Lack, 240x160x280cm

who kicks the ball?

who kicks the ball?

From Near East to Detroit back to the motherland of football.

Jan Arnold Gallery, MuseumsQuartier, Museumsplatz 1, 1070 Vienna

Vernissage: June 9, 2016, 19-22:00

Exhibition: June 9 – 26, 2016

On the occasion of the European Championship 2016 in France, Joseph Rudolf discusses in his current exhibition the global brand football, which is able to activate passive athletes and does not even stop at the art scene. The fascination which emanates from football is the origin of the artistic discussion about the ball sport No.1. Like millions of other people Joseph Rudolf looks football matches, settles back and enjoys the apparent switching off from everyday life. The marketing machinery of football uses this potential skillfully and instrumentalizes areas of society extensively and that with an intensity like hardly no other advertising media. Rudolf reduces the exhibition to the otherwise casually appearing jersey advertising and faces the audience with the the economic system of football. Who kicks the ball?
